This advice and guidance is for the general appeals programme only. If you require further advice on specific grant categories then please go to the 'What We Do' page.

For those seeking support for a dedicated youth project, you should contact the youth offices direct after reading the various youth pages under 'What We Do'.

If you require further information or advice then please contact the Grants Administrator, Mrs Gent, for support and guidance.

General Appeals

We only accept applications from UK registered charities or recognised churches - there are no exceptions to this rule. Using another charity to bid for funds on behalf of a third party is not permitted.

In considering unsolicited appeals, the Directors prefer appeals where there are relatively small, attainable targets and they place great importance on clear evidence of local support. The Directors also take into account whether it is likely that any grant they make will be put to immediate use.

There is no formal application form. For administrative purposes, it is helpful if the appeal letter can be kept to one or two sides of A4 paper, which may be supported by background information. Please do not send videos, tapes or bulky reports; they will not be returned. The following information is required:

• Charity name and registration number.
• Brief details about the project and the sum to be raised - please ensure you include a clear aim or list of objectives.
• Details of the amount raised so far towards the target and if relevant, briefly mention how you intend to raise the rest.
• A copy of the last audited accounts and annual report.

The Directors meet quarterly and applicants will be notified when their appeal is to be considered. Please note - due to the overwhelming number of appeals, we can only fund about 25% of current applications. If you are unsure whether your appeal is likely to succeed then please contact us for further advice.

Regrettably, due to overwhelming demand, unsolicited appeals are extremely unlikely to attract a grant in connection with salaries, general running costs or major capital projects. We also do not support overseas schemes or appeals on behalf of individuals.

In all cases, applications should be sent to:

Mrs Sheila Gent - see our 'contact' page for further details.

If you are unsure as to whether your organisation is eligible, then we would strongly advise contacting Mrs Gent before submitting an appeal.
